Property Overview

In the desirable Gregory section of West Orange, we discovered this 1925 Center Hall Colonial, a home brimming with classic charm. Spanning 1,800 square feet on a 0.16-acre lot, the property featured three bedrooms, two full baths, and two half baths. With dark hardwood floors, French doors, a sunroom, and unique architectural details like original ceiling beams, the home exuded timeless appeal but was in need of thoughtful updates to enhance its functionality and style.

Project Approach
When we began this renovation, our goal was to strike a balance between preserving the home’s Colonial character and modernizing it for contemporary living. We completely transformed the kitchen, incorporating subway tile backsplash, quartz countertops, and stainless steel appliances to create a bright, modern space while retaining its classic feel.

The bathrooms were given luxurious upgrades, including double vanities, marble, and penny tile finishes. These touches elevated the primary suite into a spa-like retreat and brought stylish functionality to the guest baths. On the lower level, we reimagined the space as a comfortable family room with a powder room, ample storage, and direct access to the outdoors—ideal for gatherings or casual relaxation.

Our updates didn’t stop at the surface. We installed new HVAC systems for year-round comfort, upgraded the electrical system with 200 AMP service, and replaced windows for improved energy efficiency. Recessed lighting was added throughout, and the original wood floors were carefully refinished to a polished gleam, adding warmth and continuity to the home.

Results
The finished renovation seamlessly blends the home’s historical charm with modern conveniences, making it both timeless and livable. The walkout basement and inviting sunroom provide additional spaces for gatherings and everyday enjoyment, while the reimagined interior layout enhances functionality for today’s lifestyles.

At Lefko Brothers Family Builders, we take pride in preserving a home’s unique character while introducing thoughtful updates, and this project is a perfect example of that commitment. The result is a beautifully restored property that honors its Colonial roots while offering the comfort and style expected in a modern home.
